The foundation  team of marketing, project, and liaison specialists will concentrate on promoting the business development of Guatemala through business opportunities, using the technology, products and services of North American companies, and funding programs of international funding agencies and philanthropic organizations. Strong relationships with government at all levels will be fostered to ensure their active support of and participation in the development of business in Guatemala. The proposed Guatemala Trade and Information Office will provide services and information to:  
  -    North American companies in a project clearinghouse capacity,
  -    Visiting Guatemala officials in a liaison and facilitation capacity, and Public
       sector organizations and individuals in an information dissemination capacity.
 
The success of the Guatemala Trade and Information Office will be measured through the projects developed and implemented, industries developed, relationships established, and awareness raised about Guatemala.

T
he office will function as an information source in North America for:
· Business development opportunities – planned and current projects
· Benefits of doing business in Guatemala
· Special Interest Projects
· Traveling to Guatemala
· Business development achievements
· Visa applications
Other requests for information and services will be considered on a case-by-case basis.


In addition to these services, the Guatemala Trade and Information Office will assess the feasibility and cost effectiveness of producing the following products for general distribution:
· Annual Catalog of Projects – proposed and current
· Project Sourcing Catalog - lists of existing and potential project vendors
· Commemorative Memorabilia - pins, stamps, crests, mugs, mouse pads,
· Education Kits – special interest topics for schools, libraries etc.
To further support the business development of Guatemala, the TIO will assist visiting Guatemala officials and personnel as required, including:
· Meeting coordination
· Translation
· Consumer goods location and purchasing
· North American travel
· Domestic transportation
· Visa application
· Health care
· Finance· Investment
